Comparative Cruiseline Ticket Price Indexes

15%

Our proprietary cruiseline ticket price indexes summarize relative pricing dynamics across cruiselines and time. They are a highly interpretable measure of how each cruiseline's ticket prices are evolving with time, as well as in comparison to its competitors.

To interpret the ticket price indexes, compare the value of the index for one cruiseline on a single date to the value of the index for another date. The difference if price index value is a proxy for the relative difference in the average ticket prices for the corresponding dates.

For example, if the price index for a particular cruiseline this week is 1% higher than it was for the previous week, that indicates that ticket prices for that cruiseline were on average approximately 1% higher this week than last week. Note: because each cruiseline's voyages are unique, comparing price indexes across multiple cruiselines is not interpretable.

Note that comparisons between ticket price index values are only approximate. Inaccuracy can be caused by the differing and evolving mix of routes serviced by each cruiseline, among other factors. Price index analysis should be done directionally rather than absolutely.
